Situazione Mexicana - Press release Inglese
04/08/2010
Important message for all travel agents
August 4, 2010 - Mexico City
As a consequence of the bankruptcy proceedings filed by Mexicana Airlines (CMA) on August 2, we would like to inform you that:
1. As of 6:00 p.m. on August 4, 2010 (Mexico City time) and until further notice, all Mexicana Airlines sales channels will refrain from offering flights, taking booking and issuing tickets.
2. We ask you to kindly take note of this decision and refrain from offering customers flights operated by Mexicana Airlines (MX 132).
3. Mexicana Airlines will continue to run services as normal in the interests of passengers who are already booked on flights or who have purchased VTPs, and to give union negotiations time to flourish.
4. Furthermore, the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) today notified Mexicana Airlines that, in keeping with its operating guidelines, it has been obliged to suspend BSP sales.
5. This means that as of tomorrow, the sale of MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink tickets issued using the MX 132 plate will be suspended.
6. This situation is only temporary, since MexicanaClick (QA, Associate Member 723, Aerovías Caribe, S.A. de C.V.) is already authorized on the BSP system to sell MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink flights as soon as the 723 QA plate is activated by globalizers. This same channel will be used when Mexicana Airlines decides to recommence ticket sales.
7. Please note that MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink are independent carriers and will continue offering, selling and operating flights as normal.
8. Agencies using the GDS AMADEUS may issue BSP tickets using the MexicanaClick 723 QA plate as of August 9.
9. Those agencies using other GDSs will have to wait a little longer for implementation, until August 16 at the latest.
10. Please note also that MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink content will remain available to agencies on their globalizers, allowing you to visualize, quote and book flights, thereby maintaining the function of creating bookings for passengers.
11. Until such time as each individual globalizer is authorized to issue tickets using the 723 QA plate, tickets for bookings created in your globalizer will be issued by our ticket offices and Call Center. You will shortly be receiving more specific instructions for the issuing of tickets.
We would like to remind you that this is a temporary situation, which we do not expect to extend beyond August 16. Should you have any further queries regarding MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink ticket booking and issuing processes, please contact your sales rep.
Finally, we would like to thank you for your support and understanding during this transitional period. Rest assured we are making every effort to minimize inconveniences for our business partners and, above all, our passengers.
